Is this classed as claustrophobia?

I’ve done this for years, but only just realised how much I panic before.

I’m not scared of like small spaces, just when my face is covered I COMPLETELY panic.

My brother came into my room before and threw a pillow at my face and all I could think was ‘I can’t breathe, I’m going to die’ as ridiculous as it sounds.

Is it claustrophobia, or is it something else?

it could be claustrophobia Claustrophobia is only classified as small of confined spaces. Maybe having something over your face is making you feel like things are closing in on you and you couldn’t breathe. When you have the panic attack, what is it that is making you nervous exactly..the darkness or it, the feeling of your face being covered itself.?? if its the face being covered itself..and you feel like you are suffocating, its probably claustrophobia.. If its becoming an ongoing problem, talk to your md and he or she might suggest you see a therapist to help you through the phobia or at least help you with the anxiety of it.

It sounds like a panic attack. I’ve had those before when I was just walking around shops in town. Very suddenly, you find it hard to breathe. You may feel pain in your chest and feel the need to sit down. When you struggle to breathe and have chest pains, that’s called hyperventilating. Some people would sit down in a quiet spot and breathe in and out of a paper bag. This is because the used oxygen is supposed to relax your breathing. It doesn’t always help though. You should ask your doctor about panic attacks and how to treat them.
