Is peta really bad?

I have been a vegetarian for about two and a half years now.

I have been really supportive of peta and goveg.com and everything I have recently found though that PETA has killed over 14,400 dogs and cats at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. During 2005, PETA put to death over 90 percent of the animals it collected from members of the public. PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals.

now I dont know whether to believe this or not?

but is it wrong to still support PETA even if they killed all those animals running tests if there trying to save other animals.

dont get my wrong im totally against animal testing but in a way arent they still doing good

Frankly, the “best” reports about PETA come from PETA themselves…I’ve never trusted them or their “reporting”…

http://www.itchmo.com/report-from-peta-shows-97-of-animals-in-their-care-in-2006-euthanized-4542

In a Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Online Animal Report, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) reported that in 2006, they took in 3,043 animals that were surrendered by their owners.

Of these 3,043 animals (1,960 cats, 1,030 dogs, 52 other companion animals, and 1 chicken), the organization reported that 2,981 animals were euthanized. The report filed by PETA shows that only 2 cats, 8 dogs, and 2 companion animals from the 3,043 animals were adopted out. This means 1,942 cats, 988 dogs, 50 other companion animals, and one chicken were euthanized which makes PETA’s euthanization rate 97%.

Only PETA says they get the “worst of the worst”…and with an annual buget of $31 million, you’d think there’d be a few dollars left over for a vet or a rehabilitator…

I don’t know whether this is true or not, but to be honest I don’t believe it is at all. I think that these were probably vicious rumours put about by people who are very pro-meat or have been affected by PETA’s campaign. Don’t let these “facts” bother you too much.

Take care x

I havent heard about what happens but peta generally shows people the worst of the worst so not all things they show are happening everywear, its only the worst places …then they say that everywere its happening its still a good cause to support sometimes you even have to kill animals to save some but just know that not everything they show in there videos is happening everywere

Answer #4

It is true, and it’s because PETA only gets the worst of the worst cases. The animals that go to PETA are sick, unrehabilitable or too aggressive to be adopted. Killing of animals (healthy animals) happens in every single US county. Between 4 and 6 MILLION HEALTHY dogs and cats are put to sleep every year. There are too many pets and not enough homes. PETA is just one of the many organizations that has to clean up after people and their backyard breeding.

Peta only shows bad information making everyone think the whole world mistreats animals where in truth they are treated very well up untill they are killed for meat, and even so they are killed in a way they feel no pain, I’m in agriscience and we had a steer and you wouldn’t believe how well we treated it, we fed it and bathed it, excorsised it, we also had a gilt (female pig) and she was also taken well care of. In truth PETA is made to show the worst and turn people around meat, and I heard on the news that PETA was actually suid for killing those animals, and PETA is against animal testing for anything so basically I find it to be a hypocritical, exaggerated site with really cute stickers.

Answer #6

they are putting them to sleep, yeah they die but @ least they are not brutally murdering them like they would in other places.
