Irregular period at 17??

Yeah… I know, this is a strange thing to be asking lol. But I’m almost seventeen, and I still don’t have a regular period. Like I mean I’ll get it like four months apart sometimes more, sometimes less. Sometimes I’ll get it like for like 2 weeks straight, or for only 2 or 3 days

I’m a virgin, by the way. So I know that’s not it. That’s half the reason I dont want to have sex, I’d realie on having missed periods on whether or not im pregnant or not, and I would be freaking out like 24/7 cause I didnt get it every month, and pregnancy tests are way too expensive for that crap, lol.

I know it’s normal to have an irregular perioud… But at seventeen years old?

I used to have irregular periods a lot when I was between 14 and 16, I started taking birth control to help with it and it really did help.

Answer #2

well if you r athletic than it’s normal

you might want to just be sure so go see a doctor

Answer #3

Some people never have a regular period, never. So it really doesn’t matter what age you are, never expect to have a regular period. I’m 19 and my mom is 44, neither of us are regulated either. Birth control regulates periods though if it’s bugging you.

I’ll be 17 in December and my periods are sorta the same way. I’m also a virgin and I’ve never really had regular cycles. I usually have them every other month or every 2 months. I don’t usually have them EVERY month. I just had one in September and it had been about 3 months since I last had one. I haven’t yet had one for October. They always last about a week though. My mom says I’m normal. So I don’t think you really have much to worry about :) You’re probably just one of the many women who will always have an irregular period.

Answer #5

Yeah I always had irregular periods and so did my mom. So I went to the doctors and was prescribed a low dose birth control pill. Its a just for regulating my period tho cause I’m still a virgin so make sure your doctor knows its not for sex. If you do decide to have sex you need to know that your low dosage pill will most likely not prevent pregnancy. But if you don’t want to regulate it then its ok, but it does help knowing exactly when your period is going to start. And don’t freak out because irregular periods are normal. hope I helped. :)

Answer #6

I will be 17 fairly soon and have them every 2-3-4 months. I’m planning on seeing my doctor pretty soon to just make sure I’m somewhat normal. THing is, I started have discharge when I was like 13. I don’t know why it has taken so long. I find it really annoying to just never know when it could happen.

Answer #7

im 19, irregular periods are nothing but normal. just way life is. I always come on when im dating and when im not, it dissappears for months. lol I’ve been to the doctors and everythings fine. its nice to learn im normal lol and you are 17, you dont need your moms permission to go on BC. do what feels right for you, and if she still disagrees, get a doctor to explain it to her. maybe then she will understand its something you need to do. :)

Answer #8

thankyou guys =)

but yeah, I’ve talked to my mom like a thousand times about getting on bc to help regulate my period. but she completely refuses to put me on it cause she thinks im going to have sex. you would think that she would WANT me on bc!! I mean, if I do end up having sex and I’m not taking it, that’s deffinately not good. lol
