Illegal immirgrant

Does an illegal immigrant that has no pasport have the same rights as an legal immigrant? For example: if a mexican was raped and beaten whould the police do something about it ?

I imagine that there is no risk of reporting the crime, and that it would be investigated in a city that is considered a sanctuary city…In a small community, like l live in, it would also be investigated simply becaue there is a “bad guy” running around…however ,deportation would likely be the end result for the illegal.

In the US, everyone is protected by the law, including illegal immigrants.

In 2000, The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act was established to encourage illegals to report crimes against them, by effectively promising immunity from deportation as well as making them eligible for a new special ‘U’ visa.

I’m guessing you mean the states and are talking about an illegal mexican immigrant?, are the police legally obliged to do something about it, yes, will the immigrant go in? probably not… they risk deportation…

If they are an illegal immagrant, in most cases they would look the other way because they are not a citizen. Not only would the look the other way, they would send them back to their country and not do anything about it.

Yes, the police will investigate and prosecute any crime regardless of ethnicity, nationality, or gender. A crime is a crime, no matter who the victim or the suspect is.

In a perfect world, yes that would happen. Do you honestly think that it does though? No.

Also the immigrant would not go to the police in the first place, becaus they would be deported.

I hate to say this, but it really depends on what country the person is in.

Some countries have law enforcement officials who would choose to look the other way.
