My one year old has a hitting problem

I have a daughter and she is one year and two months. she likes to slap me and her father and other people. She also likesoblem what do I do? to bite. I don’t think if I hit her hand to punish her is a good thing because it only makes her think it is ok since she sees us doing it. I have no idea what to do this is my first child and I need help!

Answer #1

ok the last person is right they do go though phases but if durring that phase she doesnt learn its bad to hit and bit it will stick with her that its ok. You should take somthing from her or punish her in a way she doesnt like make sure you consistant and punish her every time!!

hope that helped

One year olds go through phases… I wouldnt worry too much,. They can also be distracted very easily… so when she does it, remove her quickly from the situation and get her doing other things. make sure that you’re not reacting a certain way that she is actually doing it to GET that reaction… downplay it as much as possible. I don’t think it’ll last :)

Answer #4

what he said. just tell her in a loud strong voice that it’s not ok. she’ll get the message. dont be too mean at first but if she really keeps it up then you need to show your authority.

Answer #5

get stern, I’m sure you know what the parent voice sounds like put her in time out EVERYTIME, NEVER EVER EVER let her get away with it

Answer #6

we had the same problem with my neice. shes 2 now. at first we just explained to he rthat it was not nice, and then when she hit us, wed fake cry and shes apologize and give us a kiss. it worked, but she still hit us some times. after that we just put her on time out, or just spanked her, but we didnt want her to think it was ok to hit if we hit her back, because now if we hit her shell hit us back, and it can go on and on, but we just started putting her on time out.

Answer #7

I agree with Redhays, never ever ever let her get away with it no matter what, and stay stern.
