How would smoking affect a diet?

I don’t smoke nor am I about to start but how would smoking affect a diet?

I am currently on a diet but my friend is a smoker and is going on a diet with me together as she wants to lose a bit for summer as do I and I was wondering, is it going to be more difficult for her because she smokes? Is her breathing going to be bad? Should we just start walking places and then build up the amount of excersize? Would this be easier for us?

Long term smoking is terrible for your health. Honestly, smokers are often thin because they smoke instead of snacking on food. But even though they are thing they are usually very unhealthy.

It will most likely be very hard for her at the start if she is unfit at the moment, But it’s not impossible or anything, just make sure she doesn’t ‘over-do’ the exercise. Be aware of her breathing. I’m guessing she is young? So she won’t have high risks of asthma or a heart attack, but she will still have to be careful. As she gets fitter, she will be fine though. My mother is a smoker and she is a very intense badminton player. She plays with the best players 3 times a week. She is very, very fit, but it was so hard for her about 10 years ago when she started playing. She still smokes, and is fitter than most of the other players now. It can be done- her fitness, but it will be harder for her than you.

You could start by walking, then short runs, then build up to longer runs or whatever you guys want to do. Playing sports is good too because when you have fun it won’t really feel like exercise. You don’t have to really get into any sports or anything, just grab a random ball and make up some games. See if you can walk to the mall/school etc instead of driving if it’s possible.

Best of luck.

As far as exercise goes, she won’t be able to keep up with you (unless she’s already been running and keeping her cardio up), but nicotene (I’m assuming you mean cigarettes and not marijuana or something worse when you say smoke) is a stimulant and a side-effect of that is it will make her lose weight easier because even when she’s sitting down her body will be metabolizing at an increased rate.

As far as health goes, smoking is terrible for your body and a quick way to die young. As far as losing weight, its pretty effective.
