How to overclock MacBook Pro?

How can I overclock my MacBook Pro’s CPU from 2.26GHz to 2.53GHz? I couldn’t find any info online on how to do it, except people saying that you should never overclock a laptop. However, aren’t the CPU’s in the 2.53GHz MBPs identical to the 2.26GHz ones apart from the clock speed? If so, it should be possible to overclock it safely…probably?

it depends mate… back in the days of the athlon xp all we needed to do was up the FSB..

now we need to not just up the FSB but also the CPU voltage and memory speed..

so lets just think up some randon, stock clock speeds: CPU @ 2000mhz and memory @ 400mhz

back with the AthlonXP all we needed to do was say overclock by 10% so our CPU would be running at 2200mhz and out memory @ 440mhz and to get these speeds was a simple a pressing a button 10 times in bios, saving and exiting..

now a days its a lot more complex: im a overclocker and I can tell you now that you never, ever overclock with stock heatsink and fan… and never with stock thermal paste AKA goop..

FYI I use a coolermaster hyper 212 plus with 2 3rd party 120mm fans and im using arctic silver 5 thermal paste… my heats are pretty gd idle @ 32c - load @ 38c and - stressed @ 42c… my stock cpu speed is 3.6ghz and stock ram speed is 1600mhz and im currently running @ 4.1ghz and 1735mhz

yes its possible for you to overclock your CPU

if its the same as a pc then all you do is go into your bios, find your cpu settings, set to manual and adjust clock speed and voltage from there.. its a trial and error type thing: so if you start upping your clock speeds by 2 and restarting untill it will no longer boot then you up teh voltage a little. its a lenghtly process and can take days to find your stable settings :o

if you dont know what your doing dont do it because you could be holding a bbq in your mac ;)
