how do you get your stubbern Dad to let you get a puppy?

My Dad does not like animals. When I was 2 and a half my dog had to be put to sleep. Now I really want a puppy but my dad just won’t say yes! what do I do?

I disagree with the person who answered before me. I have had 2 puppies in my life time one when I was the age of 5! my parents said she was my responisbility and at the age of 5 I was able to train her it just took time and dedication. Now the only problem is they get lonely I have always had more then one dog to keep each other company but my dad is the same way I am in the process of trying to get a new puppy myself. If he will not get it for you then say dad I would like to get a job if he says why say because I really want a puppy and if you arent going to get me one then I am going to work to get me one myself. I said this to my father and he refused to let me work because then it would look like he isnt able to provide for me I am in the process of now finding a affordable puppy that I want. you have to thoroughly( ithink I spelt that right) think through these three reasons 1) Why you NEED a puppy. 2) How you are going to care for it. 3) IF you have enough time to train, care, and love and much more the puppy. those are three questions you must ask your self and answer with a legitment answer before going to your father. I hope this helps and good luck!!

ps: The reason I am getting a new puppy if your wondering what happened to the other two here is why. my first puppy from when I was 5 lived for a long time then one day she got into some fertilizer we rushed her to the vet but they couldnt save her…I remeber crying all night long and I still miss her. my secound puppies name was buddy I got him and we had him for 2 years I believe then something went wrong he ended up having a brain bleed or a brain tumor im not sure which one and he went crazzie I was the only one he didnt try to kill…everyone else he would try to attack even through the back door…=( my parents took him away when I was at school I came home and he wasnt there…I asked my parents where he was they said they gave him to a good home I found out a year later he had really been put to sleep the vet said there was nothing they could do. the reason I am telling you this is because I am letting you know that you have to watch your puppy closely and even then something could go wrong like it did with me. so I am just letting you know that having a puppy is a huge responsibility and your always taking a chance at getting your heart broken if something goes wrong. I hope my answer helped you and good luck.

I’ve been trying to get a puppy for at least 12 years, and it hasnt worked, you have to think of it from his perspective, generally parents are the ones who end up responsible for the animal. having gove through seeing a dog beingput down when you were younger he might not want to have to go through that again. It sounds stupid, but its possible.

Answer #3

It’s his house - if he doesn’t want to have a dog in his house, that’s his decision and there’s not a thing you can do to change his mind…respect his house.

You can get a dog when you have your own house.
