how do you convince my mom to let my dog have puppies whn its older?

I just got a puppy for christmas… I want it to have puppies when its older, and my mom doesnt want to. I am planing to open an animal shelter in 7 less or more years, been my future since I was 5, not backing out on it… possibly by the time I have my shelter, my puppy will be old enough to have puppies, how should I prove to my mom it will work out?

Well, animal shelters are not used for that purpose. They are there to help all the animals that get abandoned and need good homes. They recommend you getting dogs and cats neutured(sp?) so as not to bring animals into the world that you can’t take care of. So, you getting your puppy to have babies defeats the purpose of an animal shelter. Sorry, I agree with your mom. If you want to start a shelter, find animals that actually need rescuing. Don’t add to the problem.

I’m in full agreement with your mom. If MORE people thought like she does…there would be no need for thousands of shelters across the country. The number one reason that animal shelters are over flowing with dogs and cats, and millions of these are put to sleep every year…is IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS who do not have their animals spayed and neutered.

Why do you want to contribute to that mess???

I wouldnt put the pupies in a shelter, I was just saying that I want to own them along with my shelter because I love my puppy and I want more because I love animals.

I’m sorry but I think your mom is right! By the time you have your Shelter in about 7 years, your dog will be too old to be bred! Listen to your mom, get your dog Spayed, so she has less of a chance to develop certain types of Cancer that Un-Spayed females can develop. Your dog will be happier and healthier in the long run! You don’t have any experience with breeding anyway and you would be putting your females life at risk, because of your inexperience. Your female can die if you don’t know exactly what you are doing and I really don’t believe that you would want that to happen to your female. just because you want her to have puppies! Breeding is not just putting two dogs together and having puppies. It’s a very big responsibility and commitment. It’s a 24/7 job! It’s expensive if you do it properly. Shelters and Rescues are overloaded with innocent dogs, who did not ask to be there! These dogs are dying everyday, because there are not enough homes to go around and adopt them all. It’s really very sad, when they take the dog out of the cage, the dog is wagging it’s tail thinking, ok I’m getting out of here, only to be sometimes dragged into a room, scared to death, then getting Euthanized. It’s heartbreaking! Don’t add to the problem that is already so out of control!
