Sound card is installed but volume is at 0. how do I get sound back?
If it's a thing that suddenly happened, like you had sound one day, and no sound the other day, you could try resetting your computer to an earlier "resetpoint". (Search for resetpoint on your computer) It's under "systemtools" and probably called Systemrestore on a english language computer.
This will just "set back the time", tricking your computer to think the last days (when things went wrong) never happened.
In Vista Ultimate and Windows / a restorepoint will be created automatically whenever you do major changes to your machine, but in XP you'll need to create them yourself. But XP also creates random resorepoints, so you should be able to find a point to "turn back time" to, sort of.
Another solution could be to open your machine and see if the soundcard is plugged in right, so it's not loose in any way, and of course there's the driver to the soundcard which need to be right.
Funmail me if you need help.
no no no you dont need to restore pc to a earlier time...
make sure your sound card is nice and tight in pci slot...
ru sure you have a sound card and not onboard? what make and model is it?
right hand side of task bar... if you have no volume control there show hidden items and hover over till you see your volume... then just up the volume 1 to 100 or 1% to 100%
or go start / control panel / sound or sound and audio devices / volume
and adjust from there
it would make thigs easer to know what operating system your using :)
