How do I make my 3 year opld more social?

My son is three, and doesnt like kids his age- at all. He stays home with me during the day and with his dad at night. But my work schedule is changing soon and hes gonna have to go to a sitter. Anytime we drop him off there he freaks out sometimes he calms down and enjoys his day there but most days he sulks around and stays pretty upset until we come pick him up. He was in daycare for about 6 months last year and we dealt with the same freak outs every morning. I guess my question is how can we get him to be more social and actually wanna be around other kids so we dont have the dramatic morning routine?

Answer #1

My little sister used to be like that, what my mom did was have her friends children around her age come over for the day for a “toddler day” and after awhile she loved going to daycare and kindergarden

Answer #2

Persistence. Well, that is what my mother did with me in any case. I clung to her for the whole first two years of my day care/kindergarten existence.

It’s not going to be pretty, at least not initially, but you’ll have to keep on taking him every day and fetching him exactly the same time. He needs the social interaction for a healthy development.
