How do I apologize after what I did??

My brother is a fun,special,considerate, and very caring brother. On sunday we were playing around and then he started to tell me how I didnt help around the house. Well what I said to him was: ok, dont you think that you repeat the same lecture everytime you talk to me?? Well he broke into tears and told me that he was hurt and that never would he think that I would say that to him. Its been a week already,and I still dont know how to apologize because we both are haughty or arrogant and our ego is :| How do I aproach him?? and apologize to him??

walk up to him and say it.. it’ll catch him by surprise but he’ll really appreciate it. :)
