How did I add this to my dreams? It doesn't happen anymore

When I was about 6 to 8 I used to have dreams where there would be a big square pit and if I didn’t like the dream then I could jump in the pit and wake up there was one in about every dream but only the ones I didn’t like. I remember one where I even asked my mom if she new where the thing was and she told me and I jumped in it and I woke up and went back to sleep. What does this mean psychologically?

Generally speaking, in dreams a hole can stand either for a trap or bad situation in life we fear falling into. Or, in your situation, it could represent a place of refuge that appeals to our impulse to hide or feel protected. Your subconscious can probably just sense when you want to get out of a bad dream. It’s just like if you had a dream where something bad was happening and say your mother showed up and started to hold you and you feel better. It’s your subconscious figuring that you need to be comforted. It’s nothing out of the ordinary.

Hope this helped some.
