How Deep are your main arteries?

I am doing a project for health and I need to know how deep the femoral artery is. Can anyone help me?

well it is pretty deep in your thigh, but it can be palpated in the groin area- so there it is fairly shallow- so it depends on the area whether it is buried or near the surface.

all of the major arteries are near the surface at some point, except for the pulmonary artery which is protected by the ribs and the sternum, the aorta is fairly well protected as well.

you can feel your corotid arteries just a few inches above and to each side of your windpipe in your neck. your radial and ulnar arteries can be felt in your wrist, your brachial artery can be palpated near the inside of your elbow, so in most cases they come up to just below the skin between the muscle fascia and the subcutaneous layer of the skin. the femoral artery splits off from the aorta near the groin and goes into your thigh muscles and runs down your legs to your calf where it splits off into the dorsalis pedis artery and the posterior tibial arteries in your feet.

in your head the superficial temporal artery can be felt near your temple, and the external maxillary artery can be felt just in front of your ears- so it goes without saying that these are just below the skin as well at the pulse points.

palpate- to feel with the fingers.

I think about 4 inches or so depends on the person though.
