How come liberals think that Obama is special?

How come liberals think that Obama is special? What’s to like about him? If he’s for change, how come people say that and they don’t know a thing about him? Just curious.

Answer #1

As an informed voter, I know plenty about Obama… just as I know plenty about McCain…

Obama… Voted YES on limiting soldiers’ deployment to 12 months. (Jul 2007) Voted YES on implementing the 9/11 Commission report. (Mar 2007) Voted YES on preserving habeus corpus for Guantanamo detainees. (Sep 2006) Voted YES on requiring CIA reports on detainees & interrogation methods. (Sep 2006) Voted NO on extending the PATRIOT Act’s wiretap provision. (Dec 2005) Voted YES on restricting business with entities linked to terrorism. (Jul 2005) OBAMA on gun control - Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. (Jul 2007) Keep guns out of inner cities–but also problem of morality. (Oct 2006) Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998) Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005)

America cannot sanction torture; no loopholes or exceptions. (Sep 2007) Repeal Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell. (Aug 2007) Support veterans via the Dignity for Wounded Warriors Act. (Aug 2007) We are no safer now than we were after 9/11. (Aug 2007) Register women for draft, but not for combat. (Jul 2007) Close Guantanamo and restore the right of habeas corpus. (Jun 2007) Address the deficiencies in the VA system. (Jun 2007) The cost of the Iraq war should not shortchange VA benefits. (Jun 2007) Make sure the outpatient facilities work for veterans. (Jun 2007) Get first responders the healthcare and equipment they need. (Mar 2007) Comprehensive plan for our veterans healthcare. (Mar 2007) Need to be both strong and smart on national defense. (Oct 2006) Grow size of military to maintain rotation schedules. (Oct 2006)

Maybe you should do some independent research (not just from the fox network) on BOTH candidates and then you would also be an informed voter…

I don’t recall any of my liberal friends saying Obama is special. I’ve never said it either. Like amoeba said, I just try to make an informed choice.

Answer #3

in my opinion, people who use the labels “liberal” or “conservative” as if they had any significant meaning, are drinking the koolaid. Life does not fall into such a convenient pre-packaged false dichotomy.

Answer #4

Liberals like Obama because they will believe any load of crap their leaders throw at them, this is commonly refered to as “drinking the koolaid”. Obama does have charisma (unfortunately) and also white Americans feel like they owe it to the minorities and they don’t even care about his views but because they feel like the minorities have been treated poorly in the past we are paying for it now. I would also just like to say that I am not racist and I am totally for equal treatment but the only reason racism still exists is because minorities do not drop it, it is a fact of life. I have no resentment to any race and many of my friends are colored.

Answer #5

I think Obama is special because of his willingness to not take lobbyist and big DC money. Unlike McCain, he will not be beholden to a bunch of people who represent special interests, and not the interests of the American people.

How come republicans think all the lies about Obama are true? Are you not able to do any research? Or are just unwilling to find out if there is anything special about Obama.

Answer #6

“Liberals like Obama because they will believe any load of crap their leaders throw at them, this is commonly refered to as ‘drinking the koolaid’.”

That is pretty funny coming after eight years of the pure propaganda coming from the current administration. And a lot of people bought it hook line and sinker. And about 25% still believe the propaganda. As bush himself said: “See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.”

“Obama does have charisma (unfortunately) and also white Americans feel like they owe it to the minorities and they don’t even care about his views but because they feel like the minorities have been treated poorly in the past we are paying for it now.”

And what makes you an expert in determing the motives of white americans who support Obama? His charisma is unfortunate? Why, because your guy doesn’t have any?

Do you think minorities haven’t been treated poorly in this country? Do you think they aren’t anymore? And exactly how are YOU paying for it now? By having to suffer through a black man’s presidency?

“I would also just like to say that I am not racist and I am totally for equal treatment but the only reason racism still exists is because minorities do not drop it, it is a fact of life.”

I understand, your not a racist, but you just wish that the minorities won’t shut up about it already. I mean geez, its been only 400 years of oppression. Can’t they just get past it already…

“I have no resentment to any race and many of my friends are colored.”

Colored? Gee, I can’t see how anyone could think you are racist…

Calm down rickd. I did not insult you, please don’t insult me. Sorros is not a lobbyist. Just because he is weathly and supports liberal causes, does not make him a lobbyist. Obama, and now the DNC, are not accepting money from federal lobbyists. Please provide your source that shows otherwise.

Not only does McCain accept lobbyist money, his campaign is being run by them.

Answer #8

Rickd: “Wow someone has not been watching the news. LOL. “

Care to elaborate? If you are refering to him not accepting public financing, that has nothing to do with him not taking lobbyist money other than the fact that the concept behind public financing was to keep big money influence out of presidential politics. Since he has almost 1.5 million donors, mostly small amounts less than 100), he has effectively done that. He is truly being funded by the public, not big business interests like McCain.

Answer #9

Liberals think Obama is special because they themselves are “special” lol.

Answer #10

“What’s to like about him?”

This may come as a surprise to you, but people have different values and political views.
