How can I amke myself beautiful without makeup?

Ok, so I’m 13 years old and I have big blue-teal eyes will long-ish eyelashes. I’m a blonde that darkens and lightens throughout the year. My skin is tan and fair, with an accasional pimple. I absolutely HATE wearing makeup because it leaves marks and dark circles by my eyes. And, I have braces. I need a way to whiten my teeth, make my skin glow, and keep my hair silky, straight, and blonde. I would love for someone to introduce a product, that’s natural and absolutely not a makeup product!!! Thank you so much!!! ~Bre

Hey Hun,

Try curling your eyelashes :) It’ll be an ultra-natural, no-fuss-no-mess look that will open up your eyes. Cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin. If iti’s oily, use oil-free moisturizer. Use sunscreen every day (spray, oil-free sunscreen from Neutrogena or Aveeno are my favorite…regularly sunscreen causes acne and makes your face look shiny and greasy).

For her hair, use a sulfate-free shampoo. Shampoos that contain sulfates (like most do) are really bad for hair…it strips it of moisture, causing it to look/feel dry and dull and definitely not silky or shiny. Get a natural shampoo without sulfates…trust me, it’s worth it! Henry’s grocery, Health food stores and Trader Joe’s (if you have one nearby) have really good shampoos. Baby shampoos are sulfate free. Don’t just focus on the packaging if it looks like it’s for babies…it’s a lot better for your hair! Say Yes to Carrots, Tomatoes and Cucumbers also has great shampoos that won’t strip your hair of moisture. They’re available at drugstores. Giovanni Shampoos are sulfate-free and natural, and are available in the natural body/hair care section of drugstores.

Make sure you condition your hair well. That’ll provide the soft, silky look you want. If your hair is slightly oily, don’t condition the roots! Also, it may be oily because you’re using shampoo, which strips hair of moisture. When hair is stripped of moisture, it starts producing even more oil. So if you start using sulfate-free shampoo, it’ll respond to not getting stripped of oil and probably get less oily :) Giovanni, Burt’s Bees and Say Yes to Carrots also has good conditioners. Generic Value Products Conditioning Balm, from Sally Beauty Supply, is a knockoff of Biolage Conditioning Balm. I love it! Garnier Frucis Triple Nutrition is also a good one.

Next, don’t brush your hair! There are a lot of myths going around that the more you brush your hair, the more beautiful it’ll be. WRONG! It causes breakage when you pull a brush through knots. Spray on lots of detangler, and GENTLY comb with a wide-toothed comb!

Use a leave-in conditioner often. It’ll protect and moisturize your hair, keeping it soft during the day. During the winter, your hair especially needs the moisture. I recommend Giovanni Direct Leave-in, or Lustrasilk Olive Oil Cholesterol.

^With those steps, your hair will be healthy and beautiful! Oh, and one more thing: There really is no such thing as a “moisturizing” shampoo with sulfates. Dove, Herbal Essences, Suave, Paul Mitchell…as much as some claim to be “moisturizing,” they’re not! Go for sulfate-free!!

For teeth, brush with baking soda after you brush with toothpaste. Brush after you eat something, even if it’s a cookie or a cracker. And brush after every meal. But don’t brush for more than 2 minutes each time, or it’ll break down the enamel. Rub strawberries against your teeth regularly. I know someone who didn’t brush his teeth, only brushed with strawberries, and his teeth were really white!

Good luck! I hope that helped you!
