How bad does a root canal hurt?

I had a root canal when I was 11, and I honestly don’t remember it being that bad. I’ve had dental problems all my life, so perhaps I was just used to it. What I remember though (this was 9 years ago mind you), they numb you down a lot. At some point they put hot sticks in your tooth to kill the nerves, and that’s a bit scary. Nevertheless, I don’t remember it hurting that much. They have to put a lot of pressure on your tooth, but you’re numb to everything else.

The needle prick for the numbing solution is about the worse part. I’m terrible with pain, so if I handled it fine, I think you will. They put in a temporary filling for the tooth unless you’re getting a crown, but either way that feels just like a cavity filling.

Honestly, it’s NOT that bad. I had two teeth removed through surgery, and even that I lasted through just fine. In my opinion, braces are more painful than a root canal, and those aren’t that bad either. Quit the worries…it’ll be okay :)
