A part of being a fan of an artist is accepting their musical growth and style changes. That being said, it's certainly plausible to grow out of a band when their style changed into one that you don't enjoy. Just remember, that many stay true to their favorite artists and continue to enjoy new and different musical tastes as they discover more about their likes and dislikes. It's always fine to decide you've stopped liking a band when their genre/style changes, as long as you remember not to judge the artist(s) or other fans for simply evolving. Evolution is usually not bad, it's just different.
Nothing happened to them. Their music has evolved to a mixture of electronic and some of their trademark rock rap sound from their earlier releases. Their new CD Produced by Rick Rubin is called Living Things. It came out last month.
