Would you abort your baby if you found out he/she has some disorder?

I read somewhere that 90 % of people abort their child who have some disorders like Downs Syndrome etc. And am also taking a class that talked about how Hitler killed and sterilized thousands of people with mental and physical disorders. I guess my question is would u abort ur baby if u found out he/she has some disorder? Please try to elaborate rather than just yes or no. I know its a very controversial issue so please try not to hate and go in a rant

I think it would have to depend on which disorder it was, and how it would effect my child. I’m against abo rtions as a personal choice for myself, but if my child would be effected by the disorder so badly that they could not talk or function on their own when they grow up, I may consider it.

I would have an extremely difficult time aborting my child, but I don’t think it’s fair to go on with a pregnancy when you know your child won’t be able to live a decent life.

As for what I think about people with serious physical or mental issues, I think of them like I do anyone else. They are human, they have feelings, and they should be treated like everyone else. I don’t look down on them, and I don’t think I ever would.

Answer #2

I think of what they can do, not what they cant :) And absolutely do not abort! :) Pro life!

I wouldn’t abort a baby in most conditions. Doctors told my mom I was going to have Downs Syndrome and I came out perfectly fine. Everybody deserves a chance to live :) But if it was something that would mean that they would have to suffer all the time and couldn’t do anything I might consider it :/ They’re all human :D

I would abort if I find out that my child had any type of disorder. I don’t think that I would be willing to take a risk like that and do something like that to my family. A child with a mental disorder is a lifelong responsibility and I’ve seen what it can do to families.

That’s a difficult question about ab ort ion. I think that it strongly depends on how badly disabled the child would be and on whether I’d feel I could handle that.

I know someone - a neighbors daughter - with down syndrome. And she’s very sweet. She went to a good special school and now she can read and write and she even works and makes money. She works as an office assistant in the office of a disabled peoples home.

So no, I would not ab ort a down syndrome baby.

I also have someone in my family who is mentally ill with a psychosis. He was healthy when he was a kid, and he lost sanity over drügs (weed). It’s quite difficult to live with someone who talks to whispering voices in his head (and believes what they tell him) but he’s still a wonderful person.

Yet, if I was pregnant with a baby and the doctors would tell me the child is fatally ill and will live 1 year at the most in pain and probably be in hospital most of the time… I don’t think I could handle that. Takes a lot of courage to give birth to a baby like hat. I don’t know if I have that much. I hope I’ll never have that decision to make. …

I’d also like to say something about the Hitler politics. That was something else entirely. Hitler had this idea to conquer the world with his “Germanic-Aryan race”. He tried to destroy everything and everyone who would weaken that “race”. So he killed people who were “erbkrank” i.e. had any heritable illness that would have made them a “burden” to his society. Hitler wanted people to be good soldiers. He didn’t really regard them as people or respect them in any way. Not even his “chosen” race. People were only good if they were fit, strong and obedient. He killed people for dissentient views. He killed people for being unfit for war. And he killed people for not belonging to his “Aryan” race. Because he assumed that people of several races living in the same action would lead to inner conflicts that would weaken the nation and thus endanger his world domination projects. He also needed a concept of the enemy in order to unite his race against an imaginary threat, thus the “Jüdische Weltverschwörung” (lit.: Jewish worldwide conspiracy) was invented by the nazis to keep their own people in angst. In order to make them obey and follow the “Führer”.

So the fact that the nazis killed mentally and physically disabled people was kind of their way of making the “Aryan race” fit for world domination. Sort of a wicked way to breed a society that would be completely efficient in war.

i know several people that have had @bortions but i dont know how they can do it. maybe it isnt a full grown human when the proceedure is done but there is still a living organism inside and i dont know how anyone could do this. i would not have an @bort!on under any circumstances, although i do think people should think about it if the case is a sexual assault or the baby had a disorder because the parents may not be able to cope with this and if they couldnt then it would be fair on them or the baby. so it really is upto the person themself.

Answer #7

Depends on what the disorder was and how debilitating it was. But most likely, yes. Why would I put a child through that? As for ‘living organisms’, yeah, sperm are also living. I don’t see people protesting men who mast.urbate. In general I respect people’s opinions on this. But, I think people who wouldn’t abort children who are going to die painfully and in a short period of time from rare genetic disorders are just selfish and cruel. I don’t see how it takes courage to give birth to a child who is just going to be in pain for several days, weeks, or months before it dies. As for those who say it’s God’s will. Well if they take any sort of medication, use any sort of technology, or in any way are taking advantage of modern science, then they are the worst sort of hypocrites. Now, if they’re living in the jungle in trees, then by all means, rely on God.
