Golden retreivers

My dogs are ages 1yearold and 5months old they are already huge and they are super hyper. I knw they are still puppies but does anyone knw when they calm down? like age wise when do they calm down.

Ditto editor…Goldens are large dogs, and don’t mature until they’re between 18 and 24 months, so you have a ways to go…:) Even then, they are an active and smart hunting dog, and need exercise (some need more, some need less)…but daily exercise, no matter what.

They are definitely still puppies. Most don’t begin to calm down until 2-3 years, sometimes later. My terrier mutt is 3 and she’s nuts. I love it.

Answer #3

Dang girl!!! If you love dogs that much, enjoy them being hyper. My b/f’s dog is 11 and he wishes he was still hyper. His hips hurt a lot and he can’t run as fast anymore. Enjoy it, because when they get older, you’ll want it back.

Answer #4

my lab started to calm down at around age 2 or 3, and labs are known to be very similar to goldens behavior wise. like amoeba said, spaying and neutering would probably help. maybe take them somewhere fenced in where they can run free like once a week to help them use excess energy they may not be getting.

Answer #5

Are they spayed/neutered? That helps, though my neutered Lab/golden mix is 9 and he still bounces about like a puppy. I love that about him…
