What causes people to be dyslexia? is it treatable?
The cause of dyslexia is is known. It's not a mental, or genetic disorder, it's a not know factor in reading. All dyslexia people I have known including myself is caused by not understanding words when reading. Such as when reading you didn't understood what you read. Go back and find the words you didn't understand, clear them up with the dictionary and then reread the sentence again. You'll be surprised at what you missed. All dyslexia is caused by a misunderstood word one didn't clear up the meaning of. Clear those words, picture the meanings and even get the concept of what it does. There's a book out the "Technology of Study", when children who have grades in the D's and F's in about 6 weeks start having grades ranging in the B's and A's. A big difference when one knows the meaning of words. You can get this book through the Dianetic Center in Tampa FL. 1300 E 8th Ave, Tampa FL 33605. $5, no tax and shipping is free.
yslexia is a common type of learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in the reading and spelling of words.
Dyslexia should be recognised as a spectrum disorder, with symptoms ranging from very mild to very severe. In particular, people with dyslexia have difficulties with:
verbal processing speed
Dyslexia is thought to be one of the most common learning difficulties. It is estimated that 4-8% of all schoolchildren in England have some degree of dyslexia.
The cause (or causes) of dyslexia is unknown. However, many experts think that the condition is probably caused by genetic factors that affect the normal development of certain areas of the brain.
It can't be treated but it can be improved with some people by having a coloured piece of paper to put over text
Dyslexics only have a problem reading in orthographically inconsistent languages like English. I teach dyslexic students in 3 languages and they have no problem reading in Malay and Romanised Mandarin which use the same 26 alphabets as does the English language.
Dyslexics do not have a phonological awareness deficit as popularly believed. If they did then how is it that my dyslexic students can read fluently in Malay?
Dyslexia is not a disease to be treatable or otherwise.
