damn I am getting a tetnus shot the 21st and I so scared. I am deathly afraid of needles. what if they use a huge needle. I feel like I’m going to die I am so scared. I dont want to get it. is there any way out of it???

Answer #2

this is whats helps me…sit down..look away…far from the needle..RELAX..do not tighten your muscle which tends to happen when your freaked out…and just repeat that its not going to hurt…haha..well I hope that helps because it makes it better for me..and I dont like shots either..later.

hey zoeee78 I am jess, just so ya know and I HATE NEEDLES TOOO…however the tetnis shot is not that bad, you can ask whoever is giving it too you to use a baby size needle they are a lot smaller and less painful, another thing you can do is before you go in, bring an ice pack and ice the area it will numb where the needle is going in and it will be less painful (they will put the needle in the arm you dont write with) also you can just look away long before they put the needle in and you wont even know its gone in, until they tell you you are done…hope this helpS!!! BTW sitting down/standing doesnt matter, I find sitting down easier

HEY ZOEE. Okay just to let you know tetnus shots could be the one shot that doesn’t hurt at all!! A few tricks…

  1. cough right as the doc/nurse injects it
  2. have someone sit on you
  3. squeeze something ( a hand, a stress ball, a stuffed animal, a pillow…etc.)
  4. sing a song
  5. think of something to make you feel good it may sound funny but each one works expect the worse while getting a shot because once it happens you notice you got yourself worked up for no reason! good luck xxx
Answer #5

I always counted out loud and pictured the numbers floating by. It helped me disconnect with what was really happening.

Answer #6

and would you suggest lying down or sitting? I hate pain so whatever doesnt hurt thanks please hellpp

Answer #7

On the hand of the arm that will receive the shot, take your thumb nail and press it into the tip of your forefinger, hard. That helps distract you from the prick of the needle, which you don’t want to be watching. Makes the prick tolerable and over with before you even hardly notice it.

Answer #8

I like getting pricked I guess just like it its fun I think

Answer #9

I got one 2 weeks ago/ it hurt a bit:, but it really helps if you dont look at the needle:D

Answer #10
  1. think of sumthing you like I.e. your boyfriend or w/e.
  2. don’t look
  3. after your shot move your arm because the more you move it- the better it feels.
