Increasing fiber (especially soluble fiber) may lower your cholesterol but is unlikely on its own to lower it enough for those with high cholesterol. Loosing weight and regular exercise are other lifestyle changes that may move your lipid profile in the right direction. Foods that are high in calcium, potassium, and/or low in sodium may help lower blood pressure. There are some studies that associate dark chocolate with lower blood pressure. My systolic blood pressure has come down almost 10mm since I started to eat at least 1 oz of dark chocolate every evening. I'm already on one blood pressure medicine and was afraid that my doctor would put me on a 2nd but the dark chocolate has brought my BP into the healthy range.
