Agreed with sirdcc, start of with just walking on the treadmill first and as you gradually get better and better on the treadmill each day, you can increase the speed in which the conveyor moves. Once you can 'walk' at the fastest speed dial, then I think you are ready to jog. Just be sure if you do jog, always have the treadmill key on you just in case you need to stop the treadmill in a hurry. Wear comfortable sneakers that have good grip and ankle supports as jogging on the treadie is a lot different to just walking on it...Make sure you do not drink on the treadmill as it can be slippery and dangerous. Stick to jogging an hour each day, guarantee you will have the body you want in no time. Goodluck, hope you reach your fitness level. :)
i heard from experts, that if you want to get fit, that during walking (on treadmill or just in general) that you walk a fast pace, then jog for a few minutes, then slow down, then jog again.(jusst repeat)
- its a good way to get fit, and is easy on the treadmill because you can control speeds. but always do what your comfortable with! and its easy to go fast and slow becasue its not wearing you out.
- i heard his wasgood because it brings your heart rate up then down. its not at a constant, and when you bring it up you burn fat.
thanks but i can already run at around 6.5 to 7mph for around 20 to 30 minutes without stopping. then i usually rest and keep going. i just want to know if that is average, above average? any idea?
if the treadmill says the speed try and beat your old one, i'd say the average sprint is about 8mph, run is about what you said
as fast as you can go for an extended time whilst in no serious discomfort, try working up to it for a slow jog
