Why can't I express anger?

I’ve gone my entire life as a listener, not a talker. I always hear peoples problems but never tell m own. Over time I found out that I can’t express any other emotions outside of happy, stoic, or sad (funeral sad). Not saying that being happy is a bad thing but if I get angry I can’t let it out. I’ve tried punching a pillow but its just a motion. I can’t let it out. At times I feel like I’m going to explode but I end up breathing heavy and rocking back and forth on the floor. Any advice?

And I forgot to mention that I discovered that I have social anxiety while waiting for a haircut today…

Breathing heavy and rocking back and forth on the floor… that sounds like a non-destructive expression of anger, keep it up. Just breathe and count backwards from thirty in your mind. Emotions are fleeting and often based on pure impulse. If you relax and think for a moment your anger will probably resolve itself. Don’t ever lie to yourself and say your’e not angry. If you do then stop. If you try to contain feelings instead of simply dealing with them they tend to collect and build in your subconscious mind until they burst forth in an eruption of irrational nonsense. When you are angry, maintain control, but use any means necessary to calm yourself down and just think about the situation rationally. Have you tried expressing your emotions in art? Draw, paint, write, sculpt, sing, create. Do something constructive with your anger. Don’t be destructive, that brings everyone down :D
