Could anyone explain, in the simplest way you can, exactly what is the "Holy Spirit"?

I understand it’s the spirit of God, but I always thought that God WAS a spirit, so I’m a bit confused.

Answer #13

the Holy Spirit is the part of God that lives in you. It is the way God can really communicate with you. It was sent to us when Jesus left this earth, to replace Him. It is what enables us to use our spiritual gifts. for example, through the Holy Spirit people with the gift can speak in tounges. also, people can heal others through the Holy Spirit. so It is part of God, and It lives in believers who accept It.

Answer #14

Basically the biblical god

Answer #15

biblical god in the monoteistic creed is only one, not two, neither three. Do you remember where the Bible says the holy spirit is God?

Answer #16

does that definition imply the holy spirit is a person?

Answer #17

ChuckA you are wrong Christianity is a monotheistic religion The Holy Spirit is the third part of the trinity He acts in all baptized and confirmed Christians He does many things it’s hard to explain something like that

Answer #18

I’m wrong? There’s a song from my old church that went “God in three persons, blessed trinity”, okay so Three entities of God, key word being three. Three being a multiple, poly meaning more than one.. Get where I’m going with this? Obviously Christianity is polytheism but Christians seem to just ignore that. Because even in the bible it says Jesus in heaven is still a seperate entity from God, he sits on the right hand of God. But he is God according to the bible. So wouldn’t that in itself describe 2 God’s, if it wasn’t such that I have said wouldn’t Jesus have just morphed back into God? Really the bible is riddled in contradiction and I haven’t been given any hard evidence by any Christian that my theory is wrong..
