Do you think Edgar Allen Poe is a disturbed writer and his poems are creepy?

or do you actually enjoy his poems?

Answer #1

I enjoy them, for sure. He was way ahead of his time, a lot of what he writes is’nt considered creepy in today’s world, but back then he was surely an odd one. I love his short stories as well. Tell Tale Heart and The Black Cat were pretty fun.

Answer #2

Yes, he did write some weird things. Some of his writings are hard to understand, but once you know what there about, it’s kind of creepy.

Answer #3

I love tell tale heart also, all of his writings that I’ve read. Most people I talk to think his writings are quite creepy but I don’t.

Answer #4

Lol I love his writings. :)

Answer #5

Yeah, I don’t find them creepy at all, either. The only thing creepy about Eddie is the fact that he married his underaged cousin. When she died of Taberculousis(However that’s spelled) he’d sleep on her grac=ve, which I don’t find creepy.

Answer #6

*Grave.

Answer #7

Poe is one of my favorites, too. He was an alcoholic, but many writers were. Hemingway was, I think. But Poe takes the prize. Yes, he was a very disturbed person. Maybe that helped him in his craft.

Answer #8

ITs something more then the regular naked eye….

Answer #9

Poe was a genius. He had a different way of looking at the world. Some of his poetry is actually quite romantic and touching. I think all artists are a bit tortured inside. Perhaps they feel more deeply or hold onto things longer than others would, but in the end we are able to glimpse a masterpiece.

Answer #10

I enjoy them, he was a great writer. A genius, he had to endure so much in his lifetime and his poems/stories are very haunting.

Answer #11

EAP was a crazy, depressed, alcoholic. =] but his writing… is soooo good. I love him!

Answer #12

me too. when i was a kid, e-one thought that EAP was creepy ‘cept me. (Story follows) There’s a local tavern that used to be a hotel because it’s next to an old RR station. B4 i was born, a legend that Poe was contracted give a lecture there grew. He showed up drunk. He was booed out of there. B4 he left he put a curse on the place, saying “Anyone who enters must return [back here someday!”]

Answer #13

Not at all! i think his poems and storys are different but they are very origional and they show that he writes from his heart.
