Why do they say eating hot dogs while you are pregnant isn't good?

Eating hotdogs ever, isn’t good for your health…nitrates are bad for ya (not mention, nobody really knows what exactly is IN a hotdog).

this doesn’t answer the question but hot dogs contain ground up scrap meat, basically meat that is not a high priced cut of meet is just thrown into a grinder and mixed together to make the wonderful flavor that is a hot dog. i suppose that you should not eat them when you pregnant because mixing all that mixing can cause cross contamination of Bactria that unborn babies have not built up an immune to

eww i remember my teacher told us what was in a hot dog and it kinda grossed me out so for awhile i stayed away from them until now i just don’t think about it whenever im going to eat one! haha

the chemicals used in their preparation can be bad for the babies development. Also, the sausage part (we call them frankfurters here, Im not sure what you call them, just hotdogs maybe?) is a chilled product with a relatively extended shelf life which can be a breeding ground for a type of bacteria called listeria monocytogenes which is particularly bad for pregnant women. It can cause you to miscarry.

Yeah, most hotdogs contain many chemicals and preservitives in them. They are not “real” meat and are not good for anyone. Some hamburgers can be the same aswell. If you want to eat hotdogs, the best place to get them is an organic butcher shop. They do not add anything to the meat to help it last and is not shipped halfway across the country. It is most likely the best way to go.
