The Antarctic ice cap is a tremendous stabilizer for Earth. When water is in a solid form it acts as a counterweight, especially when attached to solid ground as the Antarctic ice sheet is. It is several miles thick and covers more than 5 million square miles. Architects use a similar concept to stabilize tall buildings in an earthquake zone by hanging a huge counterweight in the center. As the building sways one way because of the quake, the counterweight pulls it back the other way, keeping the center of gravity as near the middle of the building as is possible. The Antarctic ice sheet does the same thing; it is a massively huge counterweight for the planet. The problem is that it is melting away. There is a double whammy to the ice melt. The first is the loss of the counterweight stability and the second is that it causes ocean levels to rise. If you have a container filled 2/3 with water (amount estimated to be on earth) and you jostle it around, there isn’t much effect. As you add more and more water to the container, the movement of the water has more and more effect on its stability. With the Earth scenario you need to take into consideration that there is no friction like there is with the container resting on a surface. The 2004 tsunami caused the earth to wobble several degrees. What will happen when there is no more Antarctic ice sheet and all that extra water starts sloshing around with no counterweight to stabilize it?
Simple- changes in the earth's orbit as levels of magnetism (therefor gravity) change, the orbit goes from elliptical to more like a circle... look at Milankovitch Cycles for more detail.
Scientists said the 2004 tsunami triggered by the Indian Ocean earthquake caused the earth to wobble several degrees off normal.
I haven't seen any saying of this sort in the Bible bt probably the coming of Christ.
