What do i do if my dog wont stop barking, even when i offered it EVERYTHING?

Answer #1

well it depends, There are, you can lock them in a kennel kind of like a child ‘time out’ for a couple minutes and wait for the dog to calm down. Yes and then if they dont like water, get a spray bottle, make sure it doesnt squirt directly in their eyes! or if your dog is REALLY smart ask me for the last resort thing if these dont work. :) And never ever hit your dog ..Ever.

There are collars which induce a small electirc shock to the dogs neck each time it barks which apparently work real well, failing that the only other thing I know of is the Dog Whisperer who can get the dog to change its ways in a single visit (without harsh penalties to the dog).

Answer #3

Why do you bribe it to stop barking? That just enforces the behaviour, because you give it something good for doing something bad. Ignore her when she barks, don’t give her attention. Then you can also take a bottle with ice cold water and squirt her to stop, but be careful it might make the barking worse. Best thing is to get her really tired during the day and she should have so much energy to bark i.e. run/walk with her.

I have a very reactive dog…..he barks at everything and everybody….no matter how far away. I offer him two free barks, then say ENOUGH!! If I have to, I’ll physically remove him from the window, or turn him away from the offending object/person/animal….then say enough. THEN when you have 5 seconds of silence, treat him. It’s all about REWARD for what you want, NOT a bribe to shutup…that reenforces the behavior. You’re really wanting to reenforce the quiet behavior….it’s all in the timing of the treat.

I have yet to meet a dog who didn’t figure out the collar thing. Quiet when collar is on…..noisy as hell when collar is off. This isn’t training anything except to figure out WHEN to do the barking.

Answer #6

My parents actualy have a shock collar for their dog it zaps very little for the first 2 barks and then gets harder, you can adjust the shocks I guess thats how you would put it, it sounds horrible and I didnt like it at first but he is a different dog with it on. he never barks when its on so it becomes a deterent for them. still sounds bad i know. but it does work.
