Is .docx the same as .doc?

im trying to convert a ocument from microsoft word but its under .docx nd i was wondering if its the same thing, or whats the diffrence between jpeg..

Answer #1

The difference is they were created in different versions of Microsoft Office. A .doc document is pre-Office 2007….Go to the MS site and see if there is an add-on you can use to convert .doc’s to .docx’s.

Answer #2

In any office that can create .docx you can click “save as” and then choose “Microsoft Office XP” in the file format field.

Answer #3

If you save something as .docx, then a person who owns an old version of office will not be able to open and read or change this file.

If you save it as .doc then your new version of MS office as well as any older version of MS office as well as open office (the free office) can read/edit the file.

A .jpeg (you mentioned the file format in your question description) is a compressed picture file. Some cameras create .jpeg files.

If you want to send a word document (letter, homework, anything) to another person and you don’t know which version of office they own, you should send a .doc file. Click on “save as” and then go to the box that says “file format” and change to “Office XP”.
