how could you have Dissociative identity disorder and Schizophrenia and say you've got them, and say you know you've done things you cant remember???

Answer #1

Well, no one here is really qualified to answer that for certain, so what I suggest you do is ask & therapist that specializes in cases which you have stated above.

Hope you find the answers you seek. Good Luck.

I’d love to answer this, but I’m a little confused about the question. Are you saying that you’ve been diagnosed with these things and that you’d like to tell someone in your life about it (family, friend, etc)? Or are you saying that you think you may have them, and that you’d like to get a proper diagnosis and help for each?

If you’re trying to tell someone in your life about it, the only way to do so would be to be completely honest about it. Sit them down the let them know that you’ve been to the doctor, and that the doctor diagnosed you with those things. If they ask about it, let them then know that you’ve done things you can’t remember, then go from there. If you’re telling someone all of this information, though, be sure that you trust them with it. Because I’m sure this is a big thing for you, as well as it will be somewhat big for them to hear.

Now, if you want a diagnosis, tell your doctor the symptoms you’ve been having. Let them know that you’re worried that you may have either, and that you’d like help with it.

If you haven’t been diagnosed by a professional, I highly suggest that you go forth getting a diagnosis before letting people know you have these things. Be it as it may, unless you know for sure, you may not be suffering from either (or both combined).

In any case, I hope things work out for you.

Daniel, do you find comfort in knowing you have this? Is it a narrowing down of the cause of life’s challenges and problems that have come your way? A little advice……you only “have” D.I.D. and Schizophrenia if you wish to narrow down your mind and who you are as a person to a medical diagnosis…….Be thankful you have that choice left in life……Its all in how you feel about narrowing your life to a medical diagnosis to direct you back in life.

Uhm interesting. DID is particularly rare. As is schizophrenia. To have the both of them would definitely be unusual. As for being able to say you’ve done things you dont remember (i.e. you’ve either dissociated while carrying out an act, or you’ve suppressed the memory), I think it depends. All amnesia is a little different depending on the person. Some people block out bits and pieces and some people block out whole time periods. You’re going to have to be way more specific than that. Also, most therapists havent dealt with DID. You’re looking at a very narrow speciality field and you’d have to consult someone with some experience with the disorder.
