I"m cooking tonight and I want to make chili but I don't know what else would go well with it to make a meal. I was thinking chili, cornbread, cheese fries? But it doesn't seem like a real meal to me, more like a combination of delicious fatty food lol. So do those 3 things sound good or should I do a dif combo? I'm def sticking with chili though.
Warm sourdough buns with margarine on them. And A salad of sliced tomatoes and Queso Fresco, drizzled with a light sauce of your choice.
Frito chips to top off the chili.
And dessert!
Southern Banana Pudding
2 cups cold milk
1 pkg. (4 serving size) JELL-O Banana Cream Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling
1 (8 ounce) container COOL WHIP Whipped Topping , thawed
30 vanilla wafer cookies
3 bananas, sliced
Directions:
1. Pour milk into large bowl. Add pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 minutes. Let stand 3 minutes. Gently stir in 1-1/2 cups whipped topping.
2. Place 10 of the cookies on bottom of 2-quart serving bowl. Top with 1/3 of the bananas and 1/3 of the pudding mixture. Repeat layers ending with pudding mixture. Cover with remaining whipped topping.
3. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Or you can just buy a slice of cherry pie and that'll do just fine.
Chili con carne and cornbread is a classic combination. Not sure why this wouldn't seem like a meal. If it is really spicy chili than consider serving with something to cool the fire like guacamole or avocado slices.
Cornbread. Hotdogs'. Also, we did this when I was little, you pour a bag of dip freetos over the top and eat them like that. You can also add sour cream and cheese to improve the chili itself.
Chili is generally a meal in itself and doesn't really require too many accompaniments, but you can try tortilla chips, garlic bread, and maybe some corn on the cob.
Chili and Cornbread is great. Or French bread. And a nice glass of cold milk. I think I need to make chili this weekend.....
Maybe a grilled cheese and/or grilled hash browns...
Cornbread, chips, grilled cheese, hot dogs, etc.
I think salad and cornbread go good with it
grilled cheese, garlic bread, or nachos :)
