Isn't depression hereditary?

My grandmother’s sister comitted suicide and my father’s mother also tried to commit sucide over a dozen times. I did not see any of this and nor were either of my parents depressed. I’ve had thought’s of suicide on and off, (mostly on) since the age of 15. If it is not heriditary, why do I feel this?

Depression causes us to do strange things. I would urge you to get help with a counselor and maybe get meds from a psychiatrist. I hope you do something to help your depression. Hopefully we wont hear of another suicide (meaning you).
Hope things get better soon.

More information to my question…I don’t work, I don’t leave my home anymore, I have no friends and don’t even like when the people I used to know call me. You can’t tell me there’s more to live for cause I’m not looking for anything and more, I don’t want anything anymore. I’ve already tried twice and came very very close so I know the next time how to make sure it will be done right. I can’t see this not being hereditary .
