What are the dead sea scrolls and what do they say?

Answer #1

the dead sea scrolls are PRESUMED to have been written by a sect of wayward jews called the essenes, they believed that their fellow jews were on the wrong track and not following their gods will, it is also presumed that they were the ones that lived in the city of qumran and followed strict religious rules that were a part of the scrolls. basically the scrolls contain 23 of the 24 books of the old testament, with the book of ester being left out. to me the underlying hypocrisy of the dead sea scrolls is the existence of the copper scroll which contained locations for caches of gold and silver, as i see it this sect of supposedly ‘pious’ and humble people found material wealth to have been more important than their religious beliefs as demonstrated by the fact that their gold and silver cache locations were imprinted on copper and their beliefs were written on papyrus and animal hide. it is also stated that the scrolls were written 1000 years before other hebrew texts, and before the birth of christianity. some scholars disagree with the theory of them being written by the essenes, so their true origin is still up for debate.

It’s a collection of over 900 texts written in written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, mostly on parchment, some written on papyrus. The manuscripts (generally) dating between 150 BCE and 70 CE. The scrolls, or “books” were generally not accepted into the bible. Some documents are of the old testament These books include Enoch(good read btw), Jubilees, Tobit, Sirach and so on. Some books were written before other biblical stories, some other such as the book of Jubilees, being a book written after the story of Adam & Eve having 3 sons, Jubilees is about Adam & Eve having 9 children, daughters & sons, and the sons mating with the females. Enoch is about fallen angels breading with mortal females who bored monsters, and about a man named Enoch who was supposedly one of the only man who ever saw God and spoke for he angels. If I’, not mistaken, History Channel’s Banned From the Bible brushed a bit on this subject. I’m sure you can also do use a search engine to help build a broader understanding of ‘em Hope this helps and good luck

In 1947 a Bedouin found what we know today as the Dead Sea Scrolls wich, according to archeologists, were written in the 2nd. century BCE,and included fragments of almost all the books of the so called “Old Testament”, among other books.Up to then the oldest copy of the Bible was dated from 10th.or 9th. century CE.When compared, they found out that there were made no changes along the period of over 1000 years of copying and re-copying of the Holly Scriptures.Even today one can see a replica of the scroll of Isaiah’s prophecy, wich was found complete,at the Israel museum of Jerusalem.Do you think this proves the fact that the Bible we have today is faithfull to the original books written by the prophets?
