The Mediterranean diet and the diet of Okinawa are regarded as two of the healthiest, if not the healthiest, in the world. People in Sicily and Sardinia, the Greek islands, and other parts of the Med consume lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, olive oil, and other nutritious foods. People in Okinawa consume some fish, legumes, and sweet potatoes, along with some tea. Both diets consume alcohol in moderation, and people living off both diets have some of the longest life spans in the world.
Suposedly Japanese people are some of the healthiest as they use good, fresh ingredients and also eat plenty of fish. Oubviusly the typcial "american" way of food is not the way to go as it's full of saturates and salts.
And people who follow the Mediterranean diet reduce theririsk of developing Alzheimer's disease. :-) [link removed]
