How do you make an old cat want to stay indoors?

My cat is about 13 years old and has been an outdoor cat most of her life. My parents couldn’t take care of her anymore so I took her into my apartment. We are not suppose to let our cats outside. She is going to the bathroom all over the house. I give her as much attention as I can. Is there a way to make kitties want to stay in?

Not sure, but you know what they say about teaching old dogs new tricks, lets hope that isn’t the same for cats!

does she have a litter tray? and why arent u supposed to let her out

After 13 years, that cat isn’t going to change. If she’s been an outdoor cat up until now, there is nothing you can do to break her of her desire to be outside.

Well, i know this is a little late to answer and its going to be the same as anyone elses answer, you cannot make a cat that has been outside for 13 years want to come and stay inside, the cat is old and is going to want to go outside and if you supress that desire, it may start peeing on things and creating hell.

You cant make a cat stay indoors if it is an outside cat as that would be unfair, however if its for a necessary reason i.e illness i would consult your vet.
