Cat scratches, people think I'm cutting

I play with my cat, which mostly includes him scratching the living hell out of my hands, arms, and legs. It hurts.. but I still do it. I never thought about it, but some people stare at my arms.. and my bestfriend asked if I was cutting/emo. I’m like “what the f*ck? No..” I don’t think she believes me that it’s my cat, I have no reason to harm or cut myself. What should I do? This is awkward, and I’m not going to stop playing with my cat, hehe.

I lol’d @ the cat pisses if you cut it’s nails. I DO cut his nails, and TY! I will wear a sock/glove when I play with him now, I never thought of that!

I was going to suggest Soft Paws also. Many cats do get emotionally affected if you clip their nails and declawing is very inhumane, so the soft paws are a great way to go. They’re plastic caps that click onto their nails and protect you and your furniture from scratches. We use them at the shelter I work at on the black cats to give them some color :)

Answer #3

Put a sock on your hand before you play with it.

I play with my cat all the time and rarely get scratched. Either you are making her deliberately scratch you or there is more to this than meets the eye.

Cat scratches would not always appear consistant and be in the same places like most people who deliberately cut.

some things you can do are wear thicker clothes when you play with your cat cut his/hers claws down, and make them a bit more blunt, but so he can still climb things if he does teaxh him not to scratch, if there young theres also some creams that help fade scars away, so check out your pharmacy for some of them too!

There are these things that you can buy called “Soft Paws” that will keep your cat from scratching you. The “Soft Paws” are a soft plastic cover that your apply to your cats nails. They are approximately 20 bucks. They last about 6 months and they come in all kinds of colors. We got a similar product for one of our cats a couple of years ago because while he was a love, he simply played too vigorously and even with clipped claws he would still get you pretty good now and then. They worked beautifully and as a bonus it was pretty hilarious to see this big black tom cat with colored nails. :D

You can find them at www.softpaws.com

Good luck!

P.S. I totally like the pink ones. :)

ok well your cat really shouldnt be scratching you, so you may want to try some discipline there… also try clipping his nails? when my cat’s nails get too long she sometimes accidently scratches me… hmm well another solution is show her the scratches (a scratch isnt as smooth as a blade and so it looks different) also point out that most people cut in a straight line… scratches dont have that precision…

Answer #7

they piss everywhere if you cut their nails? I’m sorry that is not true of all cats…

Answer #8

every 6 weeks get your cats claws trimmed

Answer #9

they have a great gadget out now that rolls across the nails and files them smooth. I tried with my dog and it was very easy to use and took the point off. and I have had over 5 cats and not one has p+ssed when I cut their nails.

Answer #10

DO NOT CLIP IT’S NAILS! omg, cat’s piss everywhere if cut their nails, you seriously don’t want to do that. if you play with a ktty you will get scratched. I had the same problem. I was playing with my cat and he gashed my wrist open and my aunt saw it and had a panic attack. my friends started to ask if I was a cutter. you just have to keep telling them you don’t cut and if you did you wouldn’t be showing it. they will drop it.
