Why is my cat's fur turning brown-ish?

I gave him a bath, but this time the white fur turned brown.. why is that? :O

Answer #1

umm, you do realize your not meant to bathe a cat, that’s why they lick them selves to stay clean.so it could be that reason to why his changing colour

Answer #2

Sorry, but that’s simply not true - you can bathe a cat and it’s not “the reason” why his fur is changing colour.

Answer #3

There could be a few reasons …

  1. How old is he? A young cat can take several months for it’s permanent colour to develop, and you may notice the underlying colour more apparently when the hair is wet.
  2. Does he go outdoors? There’s a possibility that when you bathed him, you scrubbed out mud or dirt that was trapped under the hair and spread it more evenly over him.
  3. After the hair dried, was it still brown and did it seem “speckled”? A skin condition can cause some dry blood to blend into the hair when you bathed him, but once it’s dry, you should be able to tell that it’s not the “hair” that’s brown, but the dry blood that was clinging to it.
Answer #4

Well he’s still young.. he’s like a year and a half old? and no he doesn’t go outdoors :O But actually i’ve noticed after the hair dried the brown wasn’t that much now :) thank you colleen

Answer #5

umm I didn’t say you can’t I said your not meant to, plus I said that “could” be the reason not that it is the reason. so next time please read what was said before saying your opinion on me. thanx

Answer #6

LOL? Yeah i could.. and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it..and no it’s not the reason.. it’s probably as colleen said he’s still young so his colour might change.. ._.

Answer #7

“You’re not meant to”, falls under the same definition as “you shouldn’t”, which, in my answer, was appropriately answered with “you can”. Also, when you state “that could be the reason”, I’m well within my vernacular to answer “it’s not the reason”. Maybe YOU need to brush up on the English language a bit before taking offence to something that was properly stated.
