why is our long haired black cat turning white?

He has white markings on his face, chest and feet already, but his hair is turning white all over evenly. It looks like he was white to begin with, we dyed him black, and now the white roots are growing back. He’s only 3 years old.

Answer #1

Age, alot of animals coats of hair change over time, and three years old isnt that young in pet years…your animal is almot middle aged.

Answer #2

Well, he’s very young for a cat….they live easily into their middle teens…and many live into their 20’s.

I’d take him to the Vet, tho….if he was just getting silver ends on his hair, I’d think he was reaching a mature color. The fact that he’s turning white from the roots makes me wonder if he’s not getting something he needs or if his got something internal going on….

PLEASE DO NOT DYE YOUR CAT….the chemicals in dye is made for humans, not cats…..you could harm him.
