What is Buddhism, I know it is a religion, but what are the beliefs and everything...?

How is it different from Christianity?

Answer #1

Well, all I really know about Buddhism is that women wear a wrap on their heads…but I don’t know what the wrap is called…you should ask Colleen :)

Answer #2

Well, for one - we don’t have a deity. We don’t worship. We follow the teachings of the Buddha. Out goal is to attain enlightenment through the end of suffering and our values consists mainly of patient acceptance and loving kindness. We have respect and tolerance for all other religions and we don’t speak of our religion unless asked. We value all things living, and celebrate joyous occasions, never sad.

Answer #9

well…I am not Buddhism but in my opinion all religions are good…i have read BUDDA quotes and i was surprised by his nice quotes and saying…here is what i have known about Buddhism: Siddhartha Gautama who became knowing as BUDDHA, He taught that happiness lies neither in pleasure nor in self-denial and He advised people to follow a middle way between extremes. He preached what he called the Four Noble Truths: first, that life is suffering… second, that suffering comes from desire, or attachment to the world.. third, that attachment can be ended, and fourth, that the way to end it is to follow the ((Eightfold Path)).

and Eightfold Path consists some steps people should take in their daily lives. Here are some steps =)

1)Right Views. 2)Right intention. 3)Right Speech. 4)Right Action. 5)Right Effort. 6)Right Mindedness. 7)Generally making a living in a healthy and right way.

Buddha said people who follow this path can achieve a state of happiness called NIRVANA. As a result… they escape the world and its suffering forever. Those who dont achieve NIRVANA are going to be born again after death in another form and will have to start over.

Hope it helps . Take a good care —–}-@
