  Beginners should be making straight shots instead of attempting a hook. Your best bet as a beginner is polyester ball. These balls do not hook much but roll straight. Once you have the basics down and want to start working on your hook it is time to buy a reactive resin ball. Even after getting a resin ball you should keep your polyester ball for spares where accuracy is more important than hook potential.
