Body Fat Percentage!

my bmi says that im obese but the my body fat percentage is in the “very good” category. what the deal?

Answer #1

don’t pay attention to that bmi stuff. It’s not really accurate.

“congrats on not being fat; live the dream”…that’s pretty stupid and ignorant.

Answer #2

different body types give different readouts for weight vs. height. the charts are generalizations, and aren’t meant to be strictly adhered to. congrats on not being fat; live the dream.

a lot of it depends on how you measure it; calipers and bio-electric scales are ok measure but necessarily the best or the most accurate. Remember that it all is also dependent on the how much water weight you are carrying on at the time (women tend to carry more before and during their periods) therefore, there really is no weigh to be 100% sure on bmi or fat %

the only way to get an almost exact measurement is by going to your local clinic and going through a process called hydrodensitometry Weighing (Underwater Weighing). For more info go to: http://www.new-fitness.com/body_fat_analyzing.html
