What do think about my black toenails (please read)?

so, i have been playing soccer/football for a long time and every time someone steps on my toe and its the same toe every freakin time. it never gets to heal completely. i was talkin about this with my frien and he said that “My toe gets hurt because it’s weak and thus gets dark every time. other toes also get stepped on but since they are strong they don’t go dark and hurt that much” this just sounded like B.S to me what do u guys think is he right??? and any info on how to heal them would be great thanks

hes not exactly right, it takes time to heal and if the same toe keeps getting stepped on it doesn’t heal and it could even get worse than before because its getting pain on top of pain. you could try soaking it in water, putting ice on it, if its cut put medicine on it or before you play wrap it up in bandages so it doesn’t get hurt as much as you would without them?

Answer #2

thanks, its not cut though just black and hurts a bit.

Answer #3

ohh, well just let it rest awhile and keep some time away from it being stepped on or something so it has the right time to heal

Answer #4

It sounds like bruising … if it keeps getting injured, the bruising won’t subside. It may interest you to also know that bruised toenails don’t heal … you have to wait for them to grow out.

exactly…what you are describing to me is a blood clot that formed under the nail…and when it dries it gets all black! Its going to take weeks if not months to grow out so just sit tight be patient & wrap your toe as Kayla suggested as well! If they keep getting stomped on, the nail may just detach from your finger as it grows out. Not a fun thing. so you have 2 options…1. make sure it is bandaged up so if someone does step on you you cant feel it or 2. make sure no one steps on your foot!

You need to give it a chance to heal. If you visit your pharmacy, they will have something that you can place over that toe for protection.

Using the protector, will enable you to continue playing the game you love, without causing more damage.
