How many calories should I eat to lose weight?

I am 5’4” tall and weigh 184 pounds and need to lose weight. My life is sedentary, I work as a receptionist. How many calories a day should I eat?

I’ve now read the problem PROPERLY and to be truthful I’d agree with the first comment. Yeh around 2,000 calories a day and lots of exercise. (Drinks don’t count as calories that make you put on weight) I exercise a lot and drink loads of water and gradually I do lose weight. My mum don’t even no I’m on a diet so don’t tell her will u!!! (only jokin)

its not necessarily how much you eat but what you eat! the low carb thing is pretty cool! but you need to stay active! walk, run, basketball, it don’t matter! do something! and don’t get hung up on people looking at you because these days everybody is trying to get fit. keep some shrubbery up in you also! broccolli, green beans, celery, and whatever else that is green! green stuff keeps you regular and is super healthy. if you can get a club membership do so with one that is reasonably priced! however staying active is the key!

2,000 calories a day is the “healthy” limit, but i think anywhere from 2,000-2,500 is good. My advice is to exersize more. even the most effective deits will not work unless you exercise, and losing weight will not happen over night. Exercise about 3 times a week and you will FEEL the results. remember, the only way to change wat you don’t like is to love the skin and body you are in. YOU CAN DO IT! :)

well take your goal weight say 150 and multiply it by 10 and its 1,500 thats how much calories you would have to consume in order to loose weight and get plenty of exersise along with it

Lots of water! And diet…. and exercise…..tired yet? Drink COLD water. Cold water will increase your metabolism. Remember when your hot and sweating, don’t mix hot and cold. The reason is that when your overheated your body has to work harder to warm the water to absorb it. Hence, people dehydrate. Don’t give a person cold water when their dehydrated, their body has to work harder to warm up the water to absorb it. SO… if your trying to lose weight….. drink COLD water throughout the day. Your metabolism has to work harder to absorb the water. As far as your diet goes….. just watch what you eat. Look at your daily routine. Do you have a refrigator at work? Or school? Yoplait yogurt is the best! They come in fablous flavors, their cheap, and HEALTHY for you (assuming your a woman). Never hurts to eat these. They lower yeast infections with the yeast cultures they contain (yeah they lower yeast infections!, especially if your taking antibiotics). The calcium! It’s now researched that calcium helps in osteoporosis in women, decreases the size of tumors, and of course the cool stufff like healthy hair, skin, nails. Meat… Try to stay away from red meat. Chicken….Grilled, blacken, NEVER fried or breaded. That means most fast food restaurants. Wendy’s has a dollar menu.. I get the chicken sandwich and a side salad, $2.14. I through the bun away..unless I’m really hungry… cheap, but controlled. Don’t spend alot of money on the gym…. got a DVD player?…get you a workout video….they work! You will lose weight only if you want it bad enough. But if you really want to lose weight…… Start with your attitude first. They best advice I got was from a tee shirt ( think it might have been for a quit smoking product) , DECIDE, COMMIT, SUCCEED! You need to decide…..what you want… nobody can choose for you. Commit…….make a plan. Write down a reasonable amount you want to lose in a week…..2 lbs. a week is reasonable. A little more is ok. More than 10 lbs. a week … look to a doctor. Plan to at least walk 30 min. everyday. Add a toning exercise three times a week (videos). Drink lots of COLD water. Especially 30 min. before you eat. Spoil yourself though. Have a piece of chocolate cake at the end of the week….only if you have stuck to your plan.Cutting out all the good stuff is no fun….. just now when your good for it! Good luck babe!
