Will birth control make me sterile?

My problem is I do not want to have any kids. And I want to find a way to make myself sterile. I’ve heard that there is a shot you can take that will make you unable to have any children. Is this true and where can I get is.

I ve learnt about the shoot in science few months ago – let my remember … it helps you to prevent the pregnency for 3 months and the shoot its an injection . you shuld go to your family doctor (gp) he will tell you where to buy it from

The depo shot (you get it every 3 months) does not lead to infertility, what it can do over time is lead to a delayed return in fertility (but fertility eventually returns to normal if discontinued). It has the same sort of hormone as the pill, so really there’s not much of a difference…

There are no shots on the market to steralize peole…

The longest lasting method of a contraceptive right now is the IUD, these are impanted into the uterus where they can be used for between 5-10 years

They used to be able to implant a contraceptive into your arm which lasted 5 years, but the FDA has banned the drug… there is a new drug being tested right now to replace it but I have no idea what the FDA status is…

If you are 100% sure you do not want kids, you could have your tubes tied. But this means undergoing surgery and it is pretty much permanent.

Answer #3

there’s a few types of contraception that will stop you getting pregnant long-term. google it and talk to a dr. the only final option is to have your tubes tied.

Answer #4

There isnt a shot to make you sterile, but you can get a shot that works the same as the pill and works for 3 months…or you can get your tubes tied.

Answer #5

Actually on tv not too long ago I saw a commercial for a UT (I think that’s what it’s called), but it’s inserted by your doctor and it can prevent pregnancy for up to 5 years. If you’re not looking to have children that could be the best option for you if you don’t want to get your tubes tied. Also if you’re certain you don’t want to have children, maybe you look into having a hysterectomy. It’s where they remove your uterus and fallopian tubes. You won’t have to worry about a period that way. :) Good luck and hopefully I’ve helped you!

Answer #6

lol…I think I was thinking of an IUD!…Not a UT!!! Sorry about that!

Answer #7

you can always get your tubes tied.. that way if you decide to have kids later you can get them untied.

Answer #8

there is an injection, I get it because I don’t trust the pill, but it doesnt make you sterile, but it can lead to infertility if you get it constantly, I’ve had it 3 times, so that’s about 9 months worth, but using it constantly can ruin chances of having kids down the line, I won’t be on it much longer because I do want kids, but go to your gp and see about getting it, also you could get the rod in your arm, it doesnt make you sterile but it stops you from getting pregnant 100% I think erin x
