I wrote a book and am in the process of editing. Once, a while ago, my dad thought Bekah (my character) was the same girl as Bella (Twilight). I told him that, no, he was wrong, and just moved on. Now, though, there is a moving coming out about that is dissing the Twilight Saga; the girl's name is Becca. Does my character's name sound too much alike? Should I change it?
Well first of all congratulations for writing a book! You must be very talented!
As for the name...well that is entirely up to you...if you feel that the name really resembles the character that much then change it...remember it is your book, your characters...your story...you can do anything... change names situations or anything at all! :)
If you feel that it might be a better solution to just change the name then I say go for it...if you dont then leave it as is. What ever makes you happy.
If you do decide to change the name...there are so many names for a female character...I am confident that you will find the perfect one in no time.

Well here's the issue, the names can sound similar but do the characters roles and the events they're in are similar? If that's the case then I'd consider at least changing the name because if they have the same role as some other piece of work, well, it takes out of the originality of your own work. I'd consider at least trying to revise the role of the character if it seems strangely close to that of Bella from twilight. If you don't feel that to be so then just leave it alone!
If the namae sounds similar but everything else is different between them then you don't have anything to worry about!

The name Bekah wouldnt have made me think of Bella, until you mentioned about Becca being used in that movie. I dont think you would need to change it, unless your book involves vampires or something that would link it to Twilight

lol...creativity is in the eyes of the beholder cerido...you'll find it in your every day life if you allow you mind to see it...:P

I agree with everyone else, as long as the character doesn't resemble bell's too much, then you have nothing to worry about.
