Bathing my dog

I have a teacup size maltese. He is only 3 months old. How often to I wash him?

Answer #1

wait till your dog is older unless your dog is in need of a bath then only wash your dog once every 2 weeks but that really does depend on how dirty your dog is.

Aw, I have a maltese, they are the cutest things on earth!

It honestly depends on whether it goes outside and how dirty it gets…

I would start giving it baths early to teach it to be ok in water… At that age you could get it used to the hairdryer and then it wouldnt be cold for very long…

I would atleast give it a bath every week, their hair will eventually get really tangly and so it catches dirt…

I mean I have a cat and I wash her weekly, so I dont think washing a dog weekly is that big a deal… (I even had her used to a hair dryer at one point… anything is possible if you start early enough!)

But again, this really depends on how dirty it gets…

I understand that different breeds get bathed on a different schedule. Bostons and Boxers many times are washed much less, you can wash them down with a wash cloth.

Your baby with that white hair, may need to washed more often. I have a poodle that gets, dirty and ends up with a bath every week.

Answer #4

Nope. Absolutely, do not wash your dog every two weeks like volleeit18 said.

They say to never bathe your dog more than once a Month.

Answer #5

When a puppy is very young it isn’t good for them to be cold for to long. If you wash your puppy too much in the winter it can be bad for it to stay wet in the cold. However, dogs need washing about every 3 weeks at the least. As long as you make sure that you dry your new puppy well after each wash, you can wash it as much as you feel it needs! Only use puppy shampoo, not human shampoo as their p.h. balance is different from ours.
