How can I fix this awful salon job?

Okay..so a few days ago i went to a salon to get my roots done blonde to match the rest of my hair. Well my roots turned out to be orange. She put a toner on it but it didn’t help. A few days later i went back so she could try to fix it and she toned it again and put low light (#8). My orange roots didn’t take the low lights but the rest of my hair did. It looks horrible. This lady has been a hairstylist for 36 years. Now i don’t know what stylist to trust or if i should just try to fix it at home myself and what color to put on it. Anyone have any advice for me!?!

Wow. You really got taken for a ride. As a stylist, here is my advice.

#1: Toners don’t lift hair color, they color over to correct problems (like too much red in a brown). I can’t imagine in 1,000 years why on earth a stylist with that much experience would have done that when all you needed was more lightening.

#2: If all you wanted done was to have your roots lightened to blonde to match the rest of your hair and it turned out orange, then your stylist simply didn’t use the right shade and/or peroxide volume and/or leave it on long enough. She should have just reapplied a lighter tone and redone it.

#3: The stylist is an idiot. All you can do is contact another salon that has color specialist or certified colorists who deal solely with color.

Your problem is not that difficult to fix. You’ll have to have the roots colored to a matching blonde and highlight over the lowlights again.

What a mess. Call around and tell them your problem and go to someone who can make you feel comfortable and reassure you. You’ll just have to put your trust in another stylist. I’d also call the salon that screwed you and tell them you want your money back. Insist on it, as a matter of fact. Talk to the owner of the salon only. If you are young, have a parent do it for you. Adults usually get what they want easier than minors do. Hopefully the moron who did your hair doesn’t own the salon. But eve if she is the owner, insist that you get your money back. She didn’t do what you wanted, nor fix the problem. Money back. End of story.

Doing hair for 36 years doesn’t really mean you know what you are doing when it comes to color, believe that! I’d rather go to a girl fresh out of beauty school than some stylists I know personally who’ve been doing hair for 1,000 years. Color is a whole different ballgame than simple haircuts.

Good luck!

I don’t know how old your post is and sure you have had it fixed. I had the same exact thing happen too me just last week. I was furious. So I went to someone who specializes in fixing this mess. She couldn’t get the orange to cover, she low lighted through the hair hoping to cover that orange mess. NO it didn’t work. It is some better. I had dark blonde hair with some lighter highlights, that is what I wanted and now I have white blond with gold/orange in it. I guess it will just take time. I am so pissed.

First of all, if you weren’t happy with the first results, you should have told her…because sometimes when you complain, they will fix it. The thing is…you might have to just strip your hair of ALL color, and try again with the blonde color again. I remember going into a salon, they tried to dye my hair red, and it looked ORANGE! I was so mad, I went up to the lady, and demanded that this wasn’t the color that I paid for, and that I am not going to waste $100 on a color I absolutely hate. So they redid it, and I loved it. Don’t pay for something that you didn’t buy, or that you don’t like, It’s stupid to waste money. Hope I helped <3
