I haven’t a medical background but I didn’t get my period until I was almost 16 years old and didn’t develop like most of the other girls my age. All my friends “got theirs” and got bras when they were 11 or 12 (even both of my sisters. One of them started her period at 9!). I got a bra, but I sure didn’t need it!. I was worried, frightened, embarassed, and also felt I had no one to talk to. Well, I’m 40 now, wear a 34C and feel fantastic. Not developing forced me to take the high road in life, not the low road. Having boobs gave a lot of my girlfriends problems with boys and their health that I never had to deal with. I wasn’t chased after like the others, I was treated as a person, not an object and have incredible self esteem and personality because of it. A lot of the other problems like anger, low self-esteem, and even memory loss and sleeplessness can be caused by up and down blood sugar levels, normal development (aren’t most women “cranky” around that time?) and even the over analizing of a situation can cause problems. I suffered from migraine headaches since I was about 12 and just found out two years ago that I get them from grinding my teeth at night. I quit my sucky job and the headaches went away. I just need to relax before I go to bed each night. You could try meditation, vitamins, and a suppliment called SAM-e. It can be a little pricey if you need a higher dosage, but most people do well with 800 mgrms. You can find it in the vitamin aisle at Wal-mart or Target. I just keep my sugar intake low, religiously take my vitamins (one multi and an Omega 3). I’ve stopped taking the SAM-e because without eating the amount of sugar I used to, I don’t need it anymore. One soda has a cup of sugar in it. Ever seen a little kid all jacked up on sugar and then turn into a little turd when they crashed? Adults are worse. Caffeine is also a horrible thing to put in your body. I found it harder to quit drinking caffeine than to quit smoking cigarettes. Horrible drug. Try doing those simple things and give it at least two weeks. Be dilligent. It’s very, very hard to quit sugar and caffeine if you eat/drink it every day. You’ll suffer horrible headaches and be really lethargic. It will take an entire week to feel a little better, and two weeks if you drink more than 3 cups of caffeine/sugar a day. If not, you’ll never know if this is the problem with your anger and memory loss. My only other advice would be to talk to a school nurse. First find out if what you say to them is held in confidentiality. Even though you are a minor, doctors cannot discuss what you tell them with anyone without your consent. I’m not sure about schools, though. The yellow pages have a boatload of information on clinics and places you can find answers to your questions. Just be sure to find out about their confidentiality policy before you start spilling the beans. I wish you the best of luck.
